Renting a property

Renting a property in Ontario requires just as much paperwork as the purchase of a house. We have prepared the following material for you to be ready when you decided to start a new life in Toronto and surrounding cities, keep in mind to have all these documents ready when you want to proceed with a rental agreement:

  • Previous landlord references
  • Job letter
  • First and last month of rent (if you’re new to Canada your may offer some more money as a security deposit in case you don’t have any local references)
  • Bank statements
  • Copies of ID

Keep in mind that if you a renting your property it has become an investment home. In order to protect your finances, you want to make sure you have reliable tenants at all times following this short list.


  • Their background (references)
  • Employment
  • Three months bank statement
  • Deposit
  • Obtain a copy of their ID

Most important of all, make sure you interview them and explain consciously the rules of your property about:

  • Noise
  • Visitors
  • Cleaning and garbage
  • Prompt payments
  • Content insurance
